Many people have heard the phrase, ‘David and Goliath’ but only understand it as the little guy taking on the big guy, which to the eye in the natural, looks completely impossible. ‘Let’s not bother with that battle‘, they say.
Who wants to take on a ‘Goliath’? What happens when we see the ‘impossible’? Do we shrink with fear? Freeze? Do we say, ‘it’s impossible’? Who says it’s impossible? Why for many is this their first kneejerk, and instant reaction?
What happened to the ones who see over Goliath’s shoulder? Beyond the circumstances and imagine the giant flat on the ground and completely out to it? Giants are there to be circumnavigated and conquered. When will we ever get that message?
Giants in life are the test of our character. Do we rise to the challenge? Are we ready to stand up to them no matter what things look like? Are we risk takers? Do we crumble in the strength of our ‘Goliath’ and bow down to the fear and intimidation they generate? Or, do we believe in our strength and the strength of our God?
Who are the ones who believe in themselves and in the strength of their faith in the invisible God? The God who always responds to faith, because, ‘without faith it is impossible to please Him’
