As good practice, lawyers tend to know the answer to a question before they ask it. They are trying to either gain more information or check to see if the person might be putting a ‘spin’ on the facts. The reason questions matter, is they’re also an indicator of our attitude, ignorance, faith or fear.
I’m intolerant of negative questions namely, a question which implies there can only be a negative outcome. My response is one of anger. On what premise do they base their question, and why do they like to contaminate me with their negativity?
The questions which indicate we have fear in our hearts, often start with ‘what if’. They sound like, ‘What if no one comes?’ ‘I wonder if, I’ll get into my University course?’ ‘What if there is not enough money?’, ‘What if we lose everything?’, ‘What if my friends walk away?’
A positive faith question, sounds like ‘What if hundreds come to this event?’, ‘What if we are approved for the loan?’, ‘What if that business deal goes through?’ and ‘What if our expansion plans go ahead?’. ‘What if we win the Award? or What if we get the contract?’
Faith questions rise up from a heart which places confidence in things hoped for, has expectant faith and a positive outlook, always believing, expecting and hoping for positive outcomes.
Hope is being able to see there is light despite all the darkness.
