Have you ever, experienced that gut-wrenching feeling of sudden, devastating loss – becoming homeless, overnight!
I have found a catastrophic event, can be a pivotal turning point, for redirection which catapults us to a whole new future.
Australian summer bushfires are renowned worldwide, for their brutal, blackening damage to landscape and property. But they always produce fresh, green regrowth.
Just five days, before Christmas 2019 our property of 32 years in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, was decimated by unrelenting, catastrophic fires, fueled by ferocious southerly winds.
During our grieving process, we made critical decisions towards;
- Worldly possessions
- The importance of character, and
- Our belief in a better future.
I want to share these valuable lessons, because we can all gain from strong regrowth when we’ve refined by fire.
The framework for coming through a catastrophic disaster is found in MAPP.
1 Maintaining the fun and enjoyable things we did before the event. Don’t let them go – keep doing them because they are a source of joy.
2 Accepting: the event as a pivoting point for redirection to a whole new world. Acceptance is the key to moving forward.
3 Prioritising: What really matters in life to you? Faith, family and loved ones. – Not things. Anchor down your faith. It will buoy and steady you through it all.
4 Planning: A new lifestyle – a new future – a whole new world waits for you to enter. Imagine and plan it through the process.
We can be unbreakable, unshakeable and unstoppable by designing our MAPP. Like burning back, you can come through any setback and have ‘Life through Fire’ – there really is a new fresh life ahead.
