Have you ever wondered, who taught you how to think? Do you challenge the facts? Do you have independent thought? Can you logically think about both sides of an issue without emotional bias?
Do you think through all the possible pros and cons before making big decisions?
One of the most important attributes you can have to achieve a victorious mindset is to deliberately pursue joy. Do you have joy in your life? The combination cocktail of Joy, laughter and humour, makes a powerful antidote to protect you from a life of fear.
So what is fear? FEAR is;
- False Evidence Appearing Real
- Face Everything And Rise/Recover OR
- Forget Everything And Run
We’ve been warned to WATCH by Lao Tzu – Watch means to be observant. Watch and Think. He said,
“Watch your Thoughts, they become your words;
watch your Words, they become your actions;
watch your Actions, they become your habits;
watch your Habits, they become your character;
watch your Character, it becomes your Destiny.”
So thinking is critical. Our emotional health and well-being is paramount. No matter how cerebral, and head strong we think we are, no matter how factual we are; powerful emotions can take over and drive us to making silly and foolish decisions.
Strong people, despite how violent the storm – our anchor stays in place. My anchor came into play when our home was destroyed in the Cudlee Creek fires in December 2019. Having an anchor means being well-grounded inknowing what we believe, and good decisions based on our values.
When turbulence envelopes a plane – pilots don’t stop mid-air do they? No – they go through the storm. They hold on to the controls, read their instruments, stay on course, reach their destination and land that plane. Any distractions will take them off course. They need to concentrate to achieve their mission – namely to ensure every passenger arrives safely. Do pilots experience fear? Of course they do but they put their faith in their knowledge, training, instruments and co-pilots.
The greatest antidote to counteract fear is faith AND faith is an amazing force, \”….. it is confidence in what we hope for, and assurance about what we do not see.\” It keeps seeing the light no matter how great the darkness
