Pivoting – Make it Pay

One of our best and most beneficial MOs would be to make the past pay for the future.

Plundering the past of everything it owes us and making it pay itself forward, for our future, has potential, possibility and purpose.

Let’s take every seed from every sorrow which life hands us and plant it for good. Instead of getting trapped in the sorrow, we need to get out, decouple and detach for the memory, so we can be better humans for our future.

The popular word ‘pivoting’ has been forced upon us. It has come into our lives to morph, to ‘chameleon’ us into a different version of ourselves and our organisations to survive.

Pivoting is a skill we should all take with us moving forward, as we are not done yet. There will be other tests in life where this skill will be required.

It’s a great life skill. We’ve used it in the past but did not call it that. Many of us have done it far less frequently than we should, and less well than we should. But now is the time to enhance our ‘pivoting’ skills.

Pivoting requires an internal willingness to let go. It\’s like we twirl while travelling forward.

It requires mental dexterity and flexibility. It requires an extended emotional range – a willingness to unlearn and let go of things of which we find attachment. When we find ourselves attached to something, we have a certainty in a way it’s become comfortable, familiar and indulgent which makes us get stuck in life and we can become blind spotted by it.

In recent times we’ve had no option but to let go, move on and to reinvent, renew and refocus our life’s vision and direction.

Whatever we’ve learned from the enforced need to pivot, we should develop it, cease the opportunity to grow and take it with us.

If we make pivoting our idea and become a master at it in our organisations, and take all we learn from pivoting and keep it in our skill set, tool kit, wisdom for the life we are building, then let’s learn how to become people who pivot in lots of many ways, mini ways, and masterful ways – not just in the huge things.

On a daily basis we need to be flexible, to be able to shift weight that’s going to work better for an idea that has more value.

We need to try things out – experiment a little. For example, this person to be brought closer; this person to be moved to a different space, to a resource, a product, an idea we need to give more attention to and give less attention to things which are draining us, more familiar to us or just simply been there – like a tradition.

Pivoting can add so much to the planet, businesses, families, lives, organisations and Churches. Keep and grow pivoting as part of our skill set and become masterful at it.
