Wisdom is Wealth

A life without wisdom is destined to be littered with confusion and chaos. Wisdom is overlooked by many, and is hardly mentioned, commonly considered or spoken about out loud. It seems to belong to the aged amongst us, and for ageists, that’s just not fast enough. They don’t want to wait or hear what wisdom has to say.

Wisdom is rarely consulted. It lurks in the back blocks, hiding, because it is hardly seen or obvious. Its address is unknown.  Should it be considered, it is difficult to locate when really needed.

Wisdom gets in the way of instant gratification, slow things down. Impetuous decisions harvest the most grief. Racing to make ill-informed decisions usually ends with serious negative repercussions. Impetuous decisions are the basis for most crime.

The other ugly bedfellow is presumption. It’s a sin. It interprets situations based on false impressions and ignorance of facts. The wrong questions or no questions are asked. Mixing presumption with impetuousness is a deadly cocktail.

Decisions, large or small, need to be laced with wisdom. Wise people consult others or wait till they understand the possible options, risks and consequences of their decisions. They’re not risk adverse but their decisions are slept on and reconsidered next morning.

Wisdom is to be diligently sought after – above all else. More importantly, divine wisdom is to be desired and requested. It’s to be appreciated and respected like searching for precious gemstones. The value of wisdom is top of my eight values. Do not despise it. Seek it, honour and embrace it. You’ll reap the rewards it gives and you’ll never be disappointed.
